Matt Levasseur - Class of 2003
I graduated in 2003. I wrestled for Fermi my entire highschool career. Many people began wrestling when they were
kids, or had family that wrestled. I got the idea to join the team from an episode of The Wonder Years...really. After my first year,
I fell in love with the sport and the team. I loved the togetherness the program had. Everyone was a family, and I loved being a part
of that family.
When I graduated in 2003, I went off to the University of Connecticut where I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
After my first year, I wasn't fully happy with going right to college. I missed that feeling of a family like the one I once felt.
I met up with another alumni, Tim Davis. He went right into the United States Marine Corps right after highschool and was home on leave.
After talking to him, I decided to take a trip down to the local recruiter and see what he had to say. Soon after, I enlisted. I went to
bootcamp at Parris Island, South Carolina. I soon found that sense of a brotherhood I've been looking for. After the completion of my
training, I returned to Enfield where I volenteer with the wrestling team. I'm going to go back to UConn in the fall and finish school.
Coach Beiler once said to me after my last match at the Class L tournament, "You are a Fermi Falcon for the rest of your life. Even though
you will graduate, you will still be a Falcon. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon". This illustrates the reason I love this sport and this program.
Thanks Coach
