Fermi Wrestling Mission Statement:

Fermi Wrestling provides an opportunity for students to enhance and fully develop the core values on which our athletic department & school district rests. Being a student-wrestler at Enrico Fermi High enables each individual to further develop and enhance their knowledge to the highest degree in their academic pursuits and the sport of wrestling, to develop and foster teammate relationships and friendships, participate in a wrestling program that works like a family, and to provide the necessary pathways and become equipped as leaders with lifelong tools that can be used to support program, team, and personal excellence.

The Fermi wrestling program is dedicated to producing quality wrestlers, but more importantly, wrestlers with quality character. Fermi Wrestling provides the student-athlete with the advantage and privilege to achieve a sophisticated mastery of mental and physical skills through practice, mental preparation, and contests. The pursuit of excellence can be realized through the team's desire, dedication, commitment, focus, goals, and direction while still recognizing differing individual goals. Our program, team, and individual success will be advanced through each individual's pursuit of mental and physical development and personal growth as a student, wrestler, community member, and life's citizen. The Fermi HS Wrestling program is dedicated to producing quality wrestlers, but more importantly, wrestlers with quality character.

Team & Individual Goals

Attend all classes. If you attend all classes, pay attention, take notes, and be an active listener/participant you are guaranteed a "B" grade.

Prepare ahead for tests, papers, meet your deadlines. Utilize your study hall to get work completed PRIOR to practice.

Attend every practice, be an IRONMAN. Prepare yourself for your athletic endeavor (Wrestling) as you would your academic goals & pursuits (Hard Work).

We will lift consistently two days per week in-season during the winter months. Lifts are geared toward wrestling & explosive power (Hard Work & Smart Work).

Consistent, healthy balanced diet plan. We do not want to focus on weight loss but rather technical, tactical, and conditioning aspects of wrestling. That is the ultimate goal and a strong reason to support year round training and keeping fit (Lifetime fitness).

Your social calendar must change, especially during the competitive season. Make every effort to get a good night's sleep 7 days per week. Limit the amount of hours that you work if you have a part-time job. (You need time to just RELAX).

Take care of injuries. Rehab, rehab, rehab. Once you check with the coaching staff, you should see our athletic training staff for appropriate exercises, etc. If you are injured you must still attend practice. Support your team, continue to learn the sport through watching & listening & be an assistant coach-help your teammates.

Overall Goals for Each Individual

Live your life according to our mission. Work hard, work smart.
Give your best effort every day (hustle, energy, enthusiasm, work ethic).
Demonstrate an openness & willingness to be coached; to see, listen & try new skills.
Practice & execute the skills attained in your competitions. Wrestle Relaxed, Confident and Aggressive
